What is
Alicia?
Alicia and the Kingdom of Starlight is an independently made animated film, written and directed by Rhapsody Starlet of Pinkiemachine Studios, with the help of her sister, friends, and countless wonderful volunteers. The film is inspired by other great animated films, and the goal of making it is to hopefully bring a little magic back into the world.
The story of the film follows seventeen-year-old Alicia as she tries to juggle the weight of losing her father, caring for her family and aging grandfather, and the possibility of experiencing another huge loss in her life. Despite it all she tries to maintain an upbeat, optimistic attitude, until one fateful day when she loses her way. It will take the help of a mysterious Star Child named Aster to save her from falling into despair. Along the way, they make new friends and new enemies, face countless dangers, and they just might discover that love is the most powerful magic of all.

How far along in production is it?
We have been working on this film for over a year now! In that time, we've finished writing the script, onboarded voice actors and musicians, and have been working tirelessly on creating the storyboards for the film.
Our plan is---if nothing else---to finish all the storyboards and deliver the film that way. If we can manage to attract some animators to the project, my dream is that we will be able to fully animate this film in traditional hand-drawn animation! But, there's no guarantee that this will happen, so we'll just have to see.
Ideally, I'd love to have at least most of the storyboards finished by late summer/early autumn of 2026, but that also depends on how many volunteers we can get, which brings me to...

What has inspired this film?
Initially, I was inspired by the original concept art for the animated film, "Wish." I thought that the character of Starboy was so whimsical and so charming, and I knew I needed him to be a real character. I also miss the classic romance stories that animated films used to make, and would very much like to bring back that timeless magic.
Other films that have inspired me are: almost every film Disney and Pixar ever made pre-2018 (particularly Aladdin, Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Finding Nemo), several Studio Ghibli films, such as Castle in the Sky, and books like A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, and Anne of Green Gables by Lucy M. Montgomery.
I was also inspired by my late art professor, Phil Young, who told me lots of stories about his time working at Disney, from the Fox and the Hound all the way up to Home on the Range. I miss very much, and I wish I could have had the chance to get to know him better and hear more stories.

YOU TOO CAN VOLUNTEER!
We are currently in need of more concept artists (particularly for complex and whimsical locations), storyboard artists, and background artists! We have a lot of talent on our team already, but we need much more if we plan on finishing this movie as soon as possible so that the fans can watch and enjoy it!
If you would like to volunteer, send your portfolio to this email address: rhapsmachine@gmail.com
We will try to get back to you as soon as possible!
(Please note that not all portfolios will be accepted, as we are looking for a certain level of talent for the sake of artistic cohesion.)
Not an artist? Not a problem!
You can always support our channel and our livelihoods by donating to Patreon or our GoFundMe, or you can check out the merch shop right here on this website! Even if it's only one payment, even if it's only $3 a month, it all helps!
How it works:
By supporting through Patreon, your money goes to Bloodrayne and me, as our only pay-check. So this will go towards paying for our insurance, gas, and other daily life needs, plus other work-related expenses, such as the money it takes to keep this website up and running. Without Patreon, our YouTube money (which we get once every two months) would not be enough to carry even one of us, and we wouldn't be able to work as artists full-time.
By supporting through the GoFundMe, you can rest assured that all your money will go towards paying the artists, voice actors, and other workers for the Alicia film. Whenever we hire someone new, it's because of the GoFundMe money, which will be distributed according to the type of work each artist does, and how much of it they do (filed under Contract Work). If we miraculously get to our dream goal, or even beyond, and we manage to have some cash leftover, that money will be distributed as bonuses.
